I think the general message is on point. But I have a slightly different view on what is to be changed- I think it is this “startup mindset” that is focused on confusing an initial hunch with a business, and the lack of a gradual learning process that allows the “founder” to test their way into the right solution in a way that’s surgical on the hypotheses they are testing, and all core assumptions of their proposed solution. There is a seed there, but it may not be for the tree they think they are growing. So net-net, I agree that the cause is that they are pursuing ideas that have no commercial merit, but I think there is a more systematic way to prevent this. My favorite exposition of this approach is “Innovating: a doer’s manifesto”. Lays out an approach that I have personally tested and still using to validate my initial hunch. Thanks for a great piece
