freedom
a most underrated and overrated right
I have known some people who have a very nonchalant attitude about their freedom and such is the situation that freedom ,or lack of it, is taken for granted by many. Or perhaps all ?
But yes, such is the situation.
In a limited life span with a lot of assigned responsibilities; realizing the importance of it, i see, could be a challenging task.
The problem is that freedom’s definition has never been understood freely. It’s a feeling that everybody knows, yet ignores.
We live in communities and societies. Society’s perspective inevitably factors our behaviour. The question is, if everybody knows it’s the most fundamental right then why everybody/anybody chooses to be disillusioned about it. When freedom should be a natural affair for one and all indiscriminately what we see is more of a discriminate imposition.
Notwithstanding the factors and the causes, we know we are not free. We are not free to not think about tomorrow, we are not free to face the truth and we are not free to free others.
I wonder since when man started longing for his life so much. All I know is that living = building “repos” & freedom is relative.
