The Double Edged Sword of Social Media

I’m 38 years old, so I’m going to assume that I’m somewhere between your generation and the generation you perceive to be killing “killing free speech”. Honestly, I’m getting tired of this caricature. No one wants law enforcement to come in and arrest people for ‘offending people’. No one. You will not find one single direct QUOTE to support this ideology that people want to take away your guns, er, I mean free speech.

Ever hear of Revenge Porn? How about online death threats that would get someone locked up for terroristic threats in real life?

Now, sure you might follow daddywarpig (more like daddy fat pig) and Milo Yiannopoulos on twitter. And, for sure, they make you feel self righteous and on the side of morals and ethics. However, it’s all bullshit.

Finally, you view this old Internet through rose colored glasses. I was raised in the 80s and thought it was the greatest time in our history because it predated the political correctness of the Clinton years. Go watch Eddie Murphy’s stand up comedy routine named “Raw”. It has homophobia so bad that it’s really hard to laugh at today. Watch the movie “Soul Man” for some typical 80s racism. Check out the movie “Overboard” with Goldie Hahn, which is but one of a large group of extremely sexist 80s movies. Not all political correctness is good, but most people who cry about it long for the days when you could call a black guy a spear chucker, boy, ‘lawn ape’ or N___r. Back when you could use words like spic and chink. People bitch under the delusion that Obama has made the country more racially divided when, in fact, it was way more divided with these nasty slurs.

So, go ahead, try and debunk what I wrote. If you offend me enough I will notify the cops and the UN. I am certain the police and UN would put censoring 1st world kiddies’ Internet speech above fighting criminals with guns, global poverty, terrorism, hard drugs, sex slavery, etc. Your speech is just that damn important to us old fogeys.
