KIC 8462852 is nearly 1500 light-years from Earth. Even if there is an alien civilization there, the likelihood is that there would be no contact between our species, not even communication, for thousands of years. All we would have is the knowledge that we are not alone in the universe. I personally would find that amazing and revelatory and thrilling. Subsequent generations would grow up accustomed to the fact that there are aliens out there somewhere. I’m not sure much else would change here.
