How I made $100,000+ in 1 year

And how you can too

2 years ago, I started working with a marketing agency as a part-time along with my full-time job.

I learned a lot (From social media marketing to content writing to personal branding).

And that’s when I learned that earning money is EASY but not SIMPLE.

So, I left my job and started working as a freelancer full-time.

I started building my personal brand and got inbound leads for personal branding and social media management.

And that’s how it all started for me.

But before you jump to conclusions, a little disclaimer: I have been writing since I was 12 and wrote multiple articles, blog posts, newsletters and social media content all these years. So I already knew writing.

Background

Growing up, I wanted to have a stable income. A stable job. A stable life.

But I also wanted to travel the world, buy things without looking at the price tag and just being able to live a good life with my family.

Turned out, it wasn't possible with a 9 to 5 job.

And I never wanted to sit in a cubicle for years before I could make 1 Lac. I just never imagined myself doing that.

So I learned finance.

I graduated in finance and got an internship with Goldman Sachs.

Just every other girl in a middle class household, I decided to follow the trajectory every other Indian kid does.

Get a degree, get a job, get settled. Period.

(But I didn't want that. I have always been a rebel and following the already laid out plans is just isn't in my blood). — Did you hear Shawn Mendes in this line too? or is just me?

Anyways……

And then, COVID happened.

It sucked, to be honest.

But while pandemic has been worst for so many people, it was really good in terms of my career (not trying to be insensitive).

Due to the pandemic, I was able to focus on that one thing I always wanted to do — writing.

At that time, I was trying to crack the government exams (because just like everyone I thought government jobs are stable).

I mean they are, but are they?

Spending 40 years on a single job, without the fear of losing it. Saving money in those 40 years so you can spend in after your retirement?

I am sorry but I would much rather take risks, be dependent on myself, explore in my 20–30s (while I am young), make memories, be jobless, live on rent and live to the fullest.

Your idea of perfect “govt job” doesn't align with my goals.

So I bid goodbye to that plan and decided to upskill and make a living for myself (not to mention all from home).

We digressed from the main topic but now comes the most important part: 👇

How you can earn in six figures?

If you are someone who wants to start freelancing or personal branding, read this:

To be able to good at anything, you need 1 thing — SKILL.

A skill you are master in.

It can be anything.

You are good at fashion? Make reels. Good at writing? Write online. Good at photography? Start your page and post the pictures you clicked.

It has never been this easier. Stop overcomplicating everything.

  1. Pick a skill you are mastered in (marketing, writing, AI, graphic designing)
  2. Build your personal brand (Start posting your work on social media channels)
  • If you like short for writing — go to Twitter
  • Long form writing — LinkedIn
  • Short form videos — Insta and TikTok
  • Long form videos — go for YouTube

3. Experiment with your content — build a community

4. Engage with other peoples posts and add value

5. Keep checking the analytics every week to find out what your audience likes the most.

And soon, you will start getting the inbound leads.

6. Set up processes for the inbound leads. Get them on the call (Send the Calendly link to book a slot with you as per their availability) and pitch yourself.

7. Get 1–2 clients every month who can pay you $500–1000. And after a year you will have 10–12 clients. (It’s totally on you how many clients you want to work with and how you can accelerate the process).

And that’s how you build your system to earn $100K every year.

Let me know what you’re most struggling with? I’ll help you.
