Big up and coming news in the country music world. The legendary Garth Brooks’s youngest daughter has hit the spotlight. Allie Colleen (23) has decided to not use the “Brooks” last name because she explains she’d like to make a career of her own. People are saying she’s got an old soul, and her latest song “Along The Way” is definitely worth a listen. Just like her dad, she is an avid song writer and you can tell by the way she sings. She’s got 5 up coming tour stops in Nashville which will definitely be a good opportunity for her to showcase her talent. Give her latest song a listen!

On a more local note, Rascal Flatts performs tonight November 1st at the Abbotsford Center. The multi-award winning musical group will hit the stage this evening for a very exciting show, with guests Aaron Goodvin & Steven Lee Olsen. Both opening acts have an already well rounded fan base, but this tour has the potential to sky rocket their careers. A couple quick fun facts about our two opening artists! Aaron Goodvin is a talented Canadian artist, born in Spirit River, Alberta. He won a singing contest at a mall at the age of 12 and never looked back, he his currently living in Tennessee. Steven Lee Olsen is also a talented Canadian artist, was born in Newmarket, Ontario, he is a skilled song writer that has written songs for Craig Morgan and The Judds.

Also, just a reminder from my first post! Morgan Evans is performing with opening act Madison Kozak at Venue Night Club here in downtown Vancouver this Wednesday, November 6th! Tickets are still on sale, and this up and coming Australian Country Artist is definitely worth a listen!

Now for the hockey update. Dustin Byfuglien has been a controversial topic since the start of the season. After he surprisingly didn’t show up to training camp, rumors started circulating and speculation arose. As not having the best rap sheet in the NHL, has spent numerous seasons in the spotlight, the Winnipeg Jets had to do some damage control with the media. He was granted personal leave, they reported he was “contemplating his future of the sport”. According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the 34 year old underwent an ankle procedure recently, budgeting four months or more to recover. On a more uplifting note! The Vancouver Canucks remain hot, sitting 2nd place in the Pacific Division, heading to the 4th place Anaheim Ducks tonight. My 6th place Metropolitan Philadelphia Flyers head to New Jersey tonight, both teams coming off a couple brutal losses, they will both be looking to redeem themselves; at least Gritty is always having a good time.
