News Story Project #2
1st paragraph: The story will focus on the race and the different ways to help with this horrible situation. Students would care because it’s on campus so its easy to get involved in, the idea was created out of Liberty and once presented with the facts, readers will realize the depth of the problem of sex trafficking.
2nd paragraph: This topic makes for a good online format because there can be hyperlinks to registration to the race or other websites for more awareness on human trafficking. The piece can be written online to be short so more readers will want to engage in the writing.
- There are estimated to be 27 million slaves worldwide.
- This industry brings in $32 billion a year, and those numbers are increasing daily.
- Reportedly, 161 countries are affected by human trafficking as either sources, transit centers or destinations.
- 80% of trafficked victims are women. More and more young girls and women are being sold, trafficked, or forced into prostitution.
- The average age of trafficking victims worldwide is 12 years old.

You can support in three different ways:
Run- The organization is also holding a Virtual 5k if you cannot make it to specific locations. You may participate wherever you want, on a treadmill, walking in place, or map out your own course. All you need to do is register online and you can still advocate against slavery and receive a t-shirt and medal.

Fund- Past Liberty Champion: “According to relevantmagazine.com, Freedom 4/24 is an organization that collects money in $24 increments to buy young girls around the world a night of freedom from sexual slavery. Registration for the race buys a young girl the chance to be ministered to in a Freedom 4/24 safe house, where they are given the chance to live permanently.”
“For $24, you can provide 1 week of education, 2 weeks of counseling, 3 weeks of housing, or 4 weeks of food for a trafficking survivor.”
Support- Another way to get involved is through Raise Your Arm Challenge. For 30 days, pick a name of a human trafficking survivor and write it on your arm and pray for her and other women like her.
