Despite the rapid progress in stroke prevention, effective acute stroke treatment except for thrombolytic is still lacking. Therefore, the need for a safe and effective way of increasing the cerebral blood flow seems obvious.

As the main problem of stroke is that there is not enough blood getting to the focal cerebral region, hence any treatment that augments the cerebral blood flow should be the first and most important goal in cerebral stroke and ischemia patients.

External Counter pulsation (EECP/ECP) Therapy that has been long documented for Heart Blockage Treatment Without Surgery is now included in the latest Stroke and Vascular Neurology Guidelines 2017 for evaluation and management of not only coronary artery disease but also cerebral collateral circulation in ischemic stroke.

Heart Treatment Without Surgery

Ischemic cerebral vascular disease is a major cause of death and disability despite the rapid progress. Dr Sibia, Director and Senior Consultant at Sibia Medical Centrre, Ludhiana informed that ECP the Heart Treatment Without Surgery has been studied for therapeutic effect on Ischemic Stroke Patient With Large Artery Occlusive Disease.

In a study on fifty patients ECP, the Heart Cure Without Surgery was given for 35 daily as 1-hour sessions. It was seen that ECP, is a potential therapy for ischemic stroke patients with larger artery disease.

SPECT that is used for the evaluation of ischemic cerebral vascular disease has shown that Enhanced External Counter-pulsation (EECP) can increase cerebral perfusion possibly by establishing collateral circulation, promoting endothelial function, parthenogenesis and brain remodeling therefore protect neurons from damage in the ischemic region. Future studies may indicate other possible mechanisms.

Dr Sibia concludes other than ECP has proved effective for Heart Blockage Removal Without Surgery in patients with coronary artery disease having angina chest pain and decreased left ventricular function (LVEF). Now with reported EECP’s effective and safe intervention with few side-effects, but favorable clinical outcome it can be used to treat brain stroke patients having weakness in parts of the body and cerebral ischemia with decreased memory and mental function.
