Here’s my take as to why it’s on here.
One of the key roles of a PM is to think about the future. What does healthcare look like in 20 years? Education? Media? Travel? What about in 50 years?
A framework for doing this is to look at the megatrends we see around us today, extrapolate them out and imagine the world which could exist at the limit.
Science fiction is the ultimate expression of this kind of thinking. Science fiction authors have an ability to imagine tantalizing futures, build deep narratives around them and convince you they’re somewhat plausible.
A good chunk of science fiction should be IMHO, part of every PMs reading diet.
