Tips for HFI CUA Exam

Recently i have certified in the Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) offered by Human Factors International . I would like to share my experience and some tips to give exam so that it will help if anyone looking for information about CUA exam.

About Training

CUA Training will be 10 days non stop full day.

  1. User Experience Foundation ( 2 Days )
  2. User-centered Analysis and Conceptual Design ( 3 Days )
  3. The Science and Art of Effective Web and Application Design ( 3 Days )
  4. Practical Usability Testing ( 2 Days )

About CUA Exam.

The exam is conducted after HFI CUA 10 days training wherever they have training (Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad) or you can take exam in their main branch Pondicherry any time. you need contact them minimum 10 days before.

The exam will be challenging but you can refer material provided by HFI and your personal notes from the classes. 70% of questions are direct and 30% of the questions are scenario based.

You will have 2 attempts for the exam. if you miss 1st attempt you can take 2nd attempt within one year.

2.5-hour exam 
100 multiple choice questions 
Pass marks 70.

  2. The Science and Art of Effective Web and Application Design ( 36 Questions )
  3. Practical Usability Testing ( 26 Questions )
  4. User Experience Foundation ( 12 Questions )

Tips for Exam

  1. Attend all 4 courses at once.
  2. listen carefully and try to understand the concept.
  3. Take notes if something not there in the material.
  4. Read it carefully and thoroughly CUA Study Guides and Glossary.
  5. Use exam reference so that you can easily find related page in material.
  6. Take exam immediate after the course because there is more chance to clear the exam with fresh knowledge.
  7. Use elimination process to choose an answer.
  8. If you are not sure about answer don’t spend time on that question choose which one you feel is correct answer and flag the question. after you done all questions in the section you can come back and check once again about flagged questions.
