Freelancing often gets sold as this be-your-own-boss utopia, with endless streams of money coming your way while you sip a Piña Colada.

This is why the majority struggle to understand how to overcome not having customers, let alone high-paying ones!

You can start diving in on the high-paying shark pool of freelancing on a well-known platform: LinkedIn.

LinkedIn has definitely evolved from a professional network that used to display your connections and academic and professional path — it can now be considered a serious professional rep if you invest in your profile optimization, engage with peers, and follow your industry’s top pages and publications.

🎉 Step 1 — Set up your optimized LinkedIn profile with creator mode on.

Creator mode will allow you to post on LinkedIn like an SM account, which you can use to display your knowledge and skills.

The workflow to achieve this quickly and painless should be:

●Sign-up (if you haven’t already)

●Optimize your profile to the max (fill in every field with updated info and attach any diplomas or certifications)

●Take and complete LinkedIn skill tests in your area of expertise (optional, but useful)

●Start creating or curating content related to your niche

●Engage with other accounts and post by linking, reposting and commenting

●Repeat 🔁 from step 4.

🔑Step 2 — Use keywords.

When writing your content and even setting up a description of yourself, keywords are king. Do not sleep on the power of potential clients finding you through keywords and hashtags they follow.

If you research and set up a bundle of keywords and hashtags related to your niche and your client target, you’ll increase your chances of being found or finding clients and being hired.

🎯Step 3 — The almighty service page.

LinkedIn allows you to set up a service page that will act as a separate page displaying your services and skills. You can upload a series of files to showcase your portfolio — the more the better, to show diverse skills.

Make sure you also optimize this service page by using keywords and being straight to the point on how you can help your client achieve their goals or how you can solve their problems.

Avoid overusign keywords and hashtags that can make you look spammy.

👀Step 4 — Bring on the stalking!

Ok, not exactly like that BUT you know the drill ‘When life gives you lemonade, make lemonade’.

Well, LinkedIn’s lemons is a feature that allows you to check who has viewed your profile recently.

You may check it out and if any of those peekers are related to your niche and may be potential clients, nothing wrong in sending a connection request with a brief introductory message inviting them to visit your service page.

Pro tip: if you stalk them back and identify a need for their business/life that you can help fulfill, use that as a message by showing them how you can help.

🚹Step 5 — This one’s boring, but effective.

Visit the job board and scan through the most appealing positions for you and where you can fit the best.

Yes, usually the job offers are full-time with conventional contracts but that doesn’t stop you from still applying, catching their attention, and informing them that you are a freelancer that can help the company.

Usually, they are open to hiring a freelancer and at the very least, you’ll get under their radar for the future.
