We become prouder day by day: as you already know, Sidera will donate 1% of the funds raised to charitable organizations. And our Charity Partner, WWF, just launched its new project “Whales for Whales”, which aims to protect cetaceans in the Mediterranean water.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is the world’s largest nature conservation organization, born in Switzerland in 1961. It is based in the world with 24 national organizations, 5 affiliated organizations and 222 program offices in 96 countries. Over 5 million people around the world with their help enable the WWF to meet its challenge: more than 1,300 concrete projects each year to protect biodiversity and create a world where humans can live in harmony with nature.

Whales for Whales, charity project by WWF.

The funds donated to WWF will be allocated to projects for the protection of cetaceans, and especially whales. The projects foresee the localization and tagging of each animal by applying a chip for their geolocation and monitoring. This will allow experts to trace their movements and protect its most critical habitats into the bargain. The oceans cover 2/3 of our planet and if they were a country, they would be the seventh largest economy in the world, for a total value of 24,000 billion dollars. A huge value made of fishing, aquaculture, tourism, education, trade, but also of fundamental actions for our survival, like the carbon sequestration from the atmosphere. Yet this extraordinary “common wealth fund” today is constantly eroded and threatened by human actions. Investing in sustainable development, combating climate change and working for habitat conservation and recovery of fish stocks is the only way to defend our blue capital.
