Joma is a Spanish DJ in Berlin. He’s been DJing since he was ten years old. We caught up with him to learn more.
What do you play, and how long have you been playing?
I’ve been DJing since I was 10 years old and played a bit of piano when I was younger.
Who is your biggest musical influence?
All good music from any genre gives you something.
Do you have a most embarrassing stage story?
Not embarrassing but funny, I was playing in Madrid in a big club and the turntables ran out of power. So yeah, there were a couple of intense minutes. When the power came back people danced like it was the last song of their lives.
What was your first instrument?
A little Casio piano that I used at kindergarten. I loved to follow the lights and play songs. [Laughs]
What is your favorite record store in the world?
I love Amoeba Music in San Francisco, ‘cause I love SF too.
What’s your favorite piece of music to play?
Probably Marcus Marr — “The Music.” Best track I’ve heard in a long time, and it is from a good mate!
What was your favorite event to play?
Probably in a small club in Ibiza. People were truly feeling each song and mix.
