Apple is chasing the Dragon
I had something pre-reactionary written up about the iPad, but honestly after the WWDC news, I’ll save it for another day.
I will say that at this point it looks that Apple will never be fully able to transition away from the iPhone as its core engine for growth into a more robust company because the iPhone business model is simply too enticing to move beyond.
It took Apple three years to find a way to compete with Spotify. Apple Watch orders are flatlining. The iPad sales are outright declining. And Mac sales have continued to inch up year after year at a snails pace.
What I’m seeing is that Apple will never become that fashion-home-lifestyle thingamajig it’s trying to convince itself it is because it’s still hooked on the drug that is subsidized iPhone sales.
And they have been unable to repeat that magic with any other product.
