Hi tech beauties!

Hope your day is going as cloudy mine and I mean this in the best way possible! In this post I wanted to introduce you to cloud computing and show you how to create an AWS free tier account. Please follow along in creating your free tier AWS account and starting your cloud computing journey with me!

INTRODUCTION
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services over the internet. These services include servers, databases, network infrastructure such as network firewalls and load balancers, software including the OS, etc. What makes this more amazing is that these services are scalable, elastic, and available on a worldwide network. Also, you do not need physical infrastructure available on premise anymore and you pay like you would a subscription like Netflix to use these services. There are many cloud service providers and some of the big names you might be familiar with are Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and IBM.

AWS is a cloud service provider and stands for Amazon Web Services. It is a cloud platform by Amazon that provides its users and organizations Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings on a pay as you go model.

  • IaaS offerings are the IT virtual infrastructure components such as servers, databases, network resources, etc
  • PaaS offerings are prepacked bundles of cloud software and hardware to deploy apps.
  • SaaS offerings is software available on the AWS Marketplace that can be integrated into the cloud infrastructure

As you can see AWS has a lot to offer but the first step is to create an account. AWS has a free tier for people who want to learn and explore. The Free Tier has three different types of offerings which include a 12-month Free Tier, an Always Free offer, and short-term trials. You can learn more about this here
