iNYALA 2019 ~ Malaysia’s 1st Interactive Light Art Exhibition
iNYALA features 12 art installations from industry professionals & university / college students
iNYALA has officially launched Malaysia’s 1st interactive light art exhibition is happenning now till 30 Nov 2019 at REXKL. The iNYALA 2019 exhibition will feature 12 art installations ~ 9 created by higher education institutions including Dasein Academy of Art, Multimedia University (MMU), Raffles College of Higher Education, The One Academy & USCI University, while another 3 by industry professionals i.e. Jun Ong, FNL PRJCT & Helio

iNYALA is an acronym for iNteractive, You & Light Art. Nyala also means ignite in Malaysia’s national language; when putting both I & Nyala, it denotes a definition of a candle which burns by itself whilst giving light to others. iNYALA’s core objective is to be the platform which promotes new media art, an art form which are created or modified with the integration of technology, changing the way the artwork can be conceptualized, interpreted, created & engaged
iNYALA 2019 will revolve around the theme “Imagine the Impossible, encouraging the industry professionals, aspiring talents & public to join forces to challenge ourselves to dream, learn, innovate & create a borderless experience & appreciation for the art sector. The 1-month long exhibition will display 12 installations & the curation of space will transport the visitors from a concrete city to a unique and immersive digital park with a collection of visual, audio & sensory interactive experiences

“The future of new media art in Malaysia is still at its infancy stage despite having a pool of aspiring talents & artists from a wealth of cultures, backgrounds & abilities. We are all eager to explore, experiment & contribute to the creative industry. iNYALA aims to be a platform to bring industry professionals & aspiring talents together to open the public’s mind to imagination ~ how it can be realised with technology & creativity, whilst at the same time going deeper in exploring the possibilities of turning the installations into applicable solutions to address issues in society,” said Helios Loo, Founder of iNYALA.
Helios further commented, “iNYALA 2019 edition combines technology, art and human interaction to give a sense of how art can be playful yet informative, innovative & borderless. It aims to pave the way that art and creativity could move towards in the future too. Sustainability & preservation of the environment are one of the core messages of the exhibition, we hope the visitors and will be able to learn more about this through our installations which are created with energy efficiency in mind & highly reusable items.”

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Yang Berhormat Tuan Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik said,
“The arts are the soul of the nation, it is our role to provide safe and nurturing spaces that support the development of young talent in the creative rats. Not only that, a thriving city should also be able to offer diverse and rewarding experiences for everyone. I am pleased with our artists and industry partners’ creativity and commitment in rolling out iNYALA. iNYALA is an exciting interactive light art exhibition which allows Malaysians to experience art and technology from a different perspective. It challenges the way we think about the arts and deliver a powerful message on sustainability and future possibilities.”
