Can someone push him off his high horse now?
There are many pro athletes who could fit the description for this title, but I don’t have the energy to go in depth on all of them so I chose one who hits close to home, DeMarco Murray.
I am a Dallas, Texas native so the year 2014 when DeMarco Murray had an amazing season with the Dallas Cowboys, I loved the man (artificially).
Although Dallas did not accomplish mcuh as a team I felt that this was a start.I hoped that he would not be like all the players who had potential to make the Cowboys great again; come have a great season then leave to go suck somewhere else.
Well, he did JUST THAT. He was the exact opposite last season for the Philadelphia Eagles after taking more money to leave a perfect situation in Dallas. In 15 games with the Eagles, he rushed for 702 yards and a career-low 3.6 yards per carry. His stats are looking more like the example of a scatterplot graph each season.
His fumbling issues are a whole different story and his production was lacking in the Eagles’ shotgun-heavy offense. For those who are still thinking he as the top maybe he’ll improve in the Titans’ more traditional scheme which fits his downhill, one-cut running style better.
With Murray approaching 30 years old which well over the lifespan of a running backs’ legs, this is his 6th season and on average a football players legs are good for three seasons. Besides that he has not had the explosiveness that is expected of him since his didn’t 2014 season.
After completing my own research I asked a few “football experts” aka fans about their opinions on Murray. Overrated or good? The most common answer was “he’s straight” meaning that “he’s ok, but not worthy of all the praise” which confirms my theory.
