Infogram is a data visualization company that helps people create beautiful, interactive and responsive charts, infographics, maps and reports. Infogram serves a wide range of customers including marketers, educators, journalists, consultants, and business professionals. It’s users have created over 4.8 million infographics and charts that are viewed by over 50 million people every month.

Kevin William David interviewed Pedro Souto, Marketing Lead at Infogram to know more.

Hi Pedro, So tell us about Infogram?

Infogram is a visual communication tool that lets anyone easily create a huge variety of interactive reports, infographics, maps and social media images.

Our goal is to help marketers, journalists and other business professionals create their data stories — no design or coding experience required.

Tell me more about why you are building this?

Infogram was built with the goal of increasing data literacy, giving people the power to visualize and share data in minutes. Our tool lets people make content faster and increase audience engagement through interactivity.

For brands, we ensure design consistency with themes and templates that match their colors, fonts and style guidelines. We also make it easy to collaborate with your team to create a variety of visual outputs (dashboards, reports, charts, maps, infographics, social media images).

How is Infogram different from what already exists in the market?

At Infogram we focus on providing a more effective way to quickly visualize data. We stand out from other products like Canva or Piktochart because we offer a powerful charting tool with more output formats (dashboards, reports, infographics, etc.) and effective interactivity. In a world that’s fighting for people’s attention, our customers are able to boost audience engagement (time on page, social shares, page scrolling) with their memorable data visuals.

We have multiple ways to import data. You can copy and paste into the editor, upload a spreadsheet, or connect to a cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive).

Who uses Infogram? Can you tell us a bit about the different customer segments using Infogram?

Infogram has been adopted by a wide variety of customers, including leading media companies, Fortune 500 companies, government and educational institutions across the globe.

Executives, marketers, journalists, teachers and students choose Infogram to make reports, infographics, internal communications, marketing materials and much more.

They are all looking for a better way to create memorable content and communicate effectively.

Have there been unique use cases for Infogram that you hadn’t thought of or expected?

Since the beginning, Infogram has been fortunate to attract a wide variety of users. I was surprised to see a student who used our product to track his student loan debt. He utilized our integration with Google Sheets to update the data periodically and automatically.

Were there any early ‘growth hacks’ or tactics that have contributed to your current success?

Initially we attracted a lot of journalists because we offered a widget that let them publish more easily interactive charts and infographics online . Media professionals started to use Infogram more and more in their articles. Because we had our logo on their projects, their readers became aware of our brand and visited our site. This was our viral loop for increasing awareness among our target market.

Before we end, What have been some of the most interesting integrations you’ve added?

Data integration is important to us and our customers. That’s why we’ve always focused on making data connection easy. Currently we offer live data integration via Google Sheets, which means your Infogram reports and dashboards can be updated automatically without any upkeep. You can connect with OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Analytics. Tech-savvy users can link to a JSON feed or integrate with our API. We are always looking for new ways to meet our customer’s data needs.

For added visual impact we also integrate with royalty-free stock photo services that give our users access to more than 1 million high-quality images, and the Noun Project which has the perfect icon for every topic.
