To my Love

I first knew intimacy through you

What it was like to feel naked

I shared every thought, feeling and emotion in our touch

I didn’t always know how to speak

How to share the words my heart was too scared to put into existence

But that never mattered

You showed me beauty in pain

Because somehow every tear transformed into harmonies

Harmonies so sweet

You taught me how to express myself

I started to share what I felt

My fleshy wounds on display for people to view

And between the applause and the compliments

I learned that maybe I was capable of being courageous

Of sharing the parts of myself I keep locked behind a smile

Maybe even that I too could astonishing

But words and melodies

Don’t quite translate

So even the sweetest melodies disguised the bitter truth

But I think I’ll continue to display our love affair

Although we may just hold hands

It’s my little taste of brave

My little taste of freedom
