Now that you know where you can find free courses and certifications about SAP I will introduce you to what really is SAP.

What is SAP?

SAP SE (SAP) is a abbreviation of “Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing” is a European multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software(ERP) to manage business operations and customer relations. SAP Headquarters is located in Walldorf, Germany. SAP with the time has developed a lot of enterprise applications and they operate in two sections of the IT Market: Technology, Softwate & Services and SAP Business Netowork. The best softwares in my point of view are ERP related.

Now with more than 40 years in the market they already hava more than 413000 customers.

How to really start with SAP ?

If you want to be well positioned in the market you must correctly choose the SAP module that most identifies you, that is, according to what you already have knowledge or training you must choose the module that best fits your profile.

SAP Modules:

Because SAP is used so widely in different business functions, at an undergraduate level, there are many options available to configure it for an SAP career. For example, a diploma in international trade or business experience is a good prerequisite for becoming an SAP SD Consultant, an accounting or finance experience is suitable for a job as an SAP FI / CO consultant and a sociology / HR degree can help you become an SAP HR consultant. So while the passion for IT is important, the desire is also to understand the business and apply its knowledge to the way its IT systems operate. You can also choose if you are going to work in the functional side or technical side. Technical roles will be more suited to those interested in programming, whereas functional roles are more for those who enjoy managing relationships and configuring systems to suit client requirements. The technical consultant plays a crucial role in every project, assisting the functional consultant in altering the system to address specific client needs.

If you have left education, a good way to get work experience is to apply for a role as a system user or as a junior consultant. These roles will enable you to learn how to configure a system and may give you a chance to work alongside a senior consultant, which is a valuable learning experience. A job at a large consultancy may even open up opportunities to study different certifications, which can be expensive to fund independently.

From an employer’s perspective, the most important skill of an SAP consultant is the ability to configure systems. The certification is impressive and acts as evidence of your experience, but it is by no means essential to a successful SAP career. If you are a logical person, with a strong understanding of systems and a desire to learn continuously, you are ready for an SAP career. The best way to progress is to know what you want to specialize in and how to get the knowledge and experience necessary to make you an expert in that field. Keeping up to date with industry news and available qualifications will also help you stand out from other candidates at each stage of your career.
