Dear Angry Black Woman, I used to be scared of you — and maybe I still am — but I am an Angry White Woman who is finally starting to see what you’ve been dealing with all of your life. I have two disabled grown kids and I am now living on social security myself, and only now that I am poor am I able to see how much we’ve been sweeping whole communities under the rug. I have been unseeing, I have not appreciated what you went through for 5 decades of my life. I kept being told about it but I didn’t believe it, because it didn’t exist in my world. I am so sorry and I have a lot of making up to do, and I will spend the rest of my life trying.
