It’s not that I disagree with your take on the issue but politics is a dirty business. It isn’t fair, fun, or respected. It’s double-dealing, power conserving, lair of hyenas.
To actually succeed in politics, one must have a good grasp of chess and the art of war. In chess, you learn fairly quickly that you need to sacrifice some pawns or even a few other powerful pieces to win the game because the most important piece is the king, he’s the only piece that must survive to the end. He is also the weakest piece after the pawns and the entire battle seems counter-intuitive when the most priceless piece is such a weak one.
Trump needs to think ahead and anticipate his opponents moves before they make any move if he wants to have a successful term and a possible next term. He needs to think how he can destroy the mainstream media for the benefit of the new media and not for the benefit of himself because if there are no media at all, everyone loses. Not to mention that everyone on the left will go insane if he’ll actually try to do it.
Of course, giving interviews to left-leaning media outlets that are not part of the mainstream news, talking with rational liberals, rather than progressives who call themselves liberal and having good answers to what bothers them, giving them the liberal answers (because he might be the most liberal conservative in modern times), and asking for their help can lead to the downfall of the media and their complete disappearance within the next two years, with the new, fairer media taking its place. The new media will look into the investigators and report on their bias. Current right-leaning news outlets cannot do this because of partisanship and fighting for their status on the mainstream news arena.
Mueller is a big problem. He will find something. Any kid that ever looked for treasure knows this: you just need to continually change the definition of what you are looking for and what a treasure is. Mueller could get Trump for making a mistake on his tax returns 24-years-ago, and blow it beyond a reasonable proportion. Like how Al Capone was actually caught for tax evasion, rather than his multitude of more serious crimes. I’m not suggesting that Trump is guilty of anything but that those looking for the wrongdoing can always find it — even if it’s not really there.
Perhaps if Trump can force them to run in circles while publically showing his complete confusion as to the reason they run in circles might lead people, left and right to ask the ones involved as to what they are actually looking for and make the public support firing the lot of them.
Firing him now will only serve to make him look guilty. The media and the left don’t need him to be guilty, only to look like he is.
Talking about the media seems like a topic beyond the subject of Mueller but in the end, both Comey and Mueller are driven by the media and will reach the conclusions that they media wish as long as they don’t stand against the facts — seeing as there are no facts, there will have no need to continue that investigation.
