Hi, I agree with the fact that the events depicted showed that everyone running for their lives without asking themselves why are they doing that.
However your simple answer of sitting in a corner waiting it out doesn’t seem to be fair to me, especially with hundreds of people running around you. For the author, all that she was feeling was pointing to one of the many tragic events that happened lately. As she explained claps sounded like gunshots. When you are in that state of mind, would you rather sit quietly in a corner hoping it’s nothing or grab on to what it seems like your chance of survival. I think all people in a similar situation would rather run like aimless sheep and find out it was all for nothing, rather than be that one unlucky statistic in history.
We jump like scared cats at every sound and our mind will tend to see things that are not there. It’s not our fault, it’s the times we live in.
