My advice: When you are talking with someone about your orientation for the first time, avoid the term ‘pedophile’ unless you know the person you are talking to knows the proper meaning of the term. You don’t have to get a chance to explain what you mean by that term. Say you are attracted towards children and if asked whether you are a pedophile, explain how you understand the term.
