Types of Imaging Methods Used

Angiography

The technology uses a real-time imaging technology with special emphasis on the veins and arteries.

Computed Tomography uses X-ray to get an accurate image of the body’s interior tissues. Before the procedure begins, the patient is administered a substance called “dye”, which is basically a pharmaceutical agent that helps the scanner see the arteries and veins more clearly.

Fluoroscopy

Similar to the CT (down to the contrast material) with one big exception — fluoroscopy creates moving images, real-time.

MRA

This examination happens in a magnetic field, is non-invasive, and generally extremely safe.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging obtains the images by emitting high frequency sounds.
