We are created for community.
*What are the common or main reasons that people do not join small groups?
*Imagine you’re explaining the importance of being in a small group to someone, what do you say?
The article linked above talks about the increasing loneliness people are feeling in our culture, particularly among the Millenial generation (18–34 year olds).
*Do you think people are lonelier today than before? Why? Why not?
*In your opinion, what are the contributing factors to increased feelings of loneliness?
*What are some things we can do as individuals and as a church to help curb feelings of loneliness and isolation?
The Fuller Youth Institute created a study called “Sticky Faith,” where they researched trends helping kids develop a faith that lasts beyond high school — a faith that ‘sticks.’ One of their findings was that kids who had a faith that stuck had at least 5 non-parental caring adults regularly pouring into their lives.
*Did you have 5 non-parental adults in your life? Who were they?
*Parents: Can you name 5 people for your kids?
*Everyone: How can you as an individual be 1 of the 5 for a child/student in our community or our church?
*If you believed Jesus’ teachings were true, what is one thing you could do to respond to this text?
