How stained glass helps me to see the world more clearly
Understanding our collective beauty through gaining new perspectives.
Why I love stained glass…
I love stained glass because my mother creates beautiful stained glass pieces, anytime I see stained glass it reminds me of my mothers craft, our love for each other and our extraordinary bond as mother and daughter. But this isn’t the only reason I love stained glass.

For me, each panel in a stained glass piece represents a unique perspective of the outside world. Each of us have a filter on the way we see and experience our world due to our individual life experiences, our up-bringing and the way we have developed relationships with other people, community and places.
These filters are beautiful in their own right but it’s when we bring those pieces together that we start to see the bigger picture, this is when the real beauty shines through. Being able to see all perspectives together as a whole, is where our collective strength lies.

To truly understand this world we need to open up to other people’s perspectives, to appreciate them even if we do not share them, to remember that each person has that unique perspective because of the life they have experienced so far. This is what stained glass represents for me, a beautiful reminder to be completely open and accepting of others.
‘We do not think ourselves into new ways of living, we live ourselves into new ways of thinking’

Sharing our own personal perspective and being open to letting other people’s views, thoughts and values into our own is how we will be able to create a better world for us all.
Being able to share what is beautiful to us in this world, is one way in which we can connect. What’s special about humanity is every person who sees the same piece of stained glass will view it through their lens, see something different and be able to contribute to the world in their own exceptional way.
