Through years of taking computer classes, Ive heard the term ‘wireframe’ before but never knew to what it was referring. This article will be discussing what a wireframe is, pros and cons

What is a wire frame?

A wire frame is the skeleton of a webpage, a blueprint. It shows the basic and intended outline for a site. Some good elements to include in a wireframe include a logo, header, navigation bar, text, images, videos, etc.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Designing a wireframe can help iron out kinks in design. I have only built one wireframe and it was a good experience. It should be detailed. You can also gain insight into what may or may not look good.

Cons: It was a little bit boring and can be somewhat time consuming, depending on how much detail you put into it. You may think that it isn’t super necessary, that one can just jump into coding, which may work sometimes, but building a wireframe is a good idea.

Which software is the best for creating a wireframe?

What is the best tool for making a wireframe? It looks like you can make a wireframe with many different types of software and some on sites themselves. One example is Wireframe.cc, prices vary. Others include Adobe XD, UX Pin, or Fluid UI. Most available on either Windows or Mac. There are some other options that can work such as Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator.
