When we are considering to move to UK, as a parent of two children, we are most concerned about the public security and education.
The UK has done a good job for the transparency of the data, I can easily find the crime rate data and education data from the UK government.

There are some good websites to check the UK crime rate
Most of the websites provide the map so that we can have an easy review, for example, simply input the area in the POLICE.UK, you can have the crime map that show the details of the crime.
However, for a foreigner that lives outside UK, I have no idea where we are going to live, I want to have an overview of the crime rate for some areas, I found frustration when I have to check the postcode from Google Map and then back to the web to check the crime. As a lazy software architect, the laziness drives me to make the crime map for my own use.
Requirement:
- Show the number of crime in large geographical area in Google Map
- Filter some type of the crime

The result is pretty good, I can zoom in and out to check the crime in the wider range of area.
