A Simple Step-by-Step Guide on How to Buy Into an ICO
- Go to https://www.coinbase.com — After entering your email address to get started, continue with the sign-up process. Link a Bank Account. Bank accounts can be added from the Payment Methods page. Once you’ve chosen to link a bank account, you’ll see the following screen:
2. After verifying your banking options, access the “Buy/Sell Ethereum” tab. Select the payment method using the drop-down menu. Enter the desired amount. Click “Buy Ethereum Instantly.”
3. View your Ethereum (ETH) credited on your dashboard
4. Go to https://www.myetherwallet.com and click the blue “Create New Wallet” button.
After clicking on the “Create New Wallet” button you’ll see this screen:
5. Next click on the blue “Download Keystore File (UTC/JSON)” button.
a) This will download the keystore file to the Downloads folder on your computer. Remember that the keystore file is here. You’ll need to access it later.
b) The downloaded keystore file in your Downloads folder will look similar to this:

6. Next click on the red “I Understand. Continue.” button. (See above image)
7. Under “Save Your Private Key”, you’ll see a super long list of numbers and letters. This is called your “private key”. Take a picture of the long list of numbers and letters using your phone if you cannot print it. If you cannot take a picture or print, then write the numbers and letters down on a piece of paper.
a) If you do not want to print or cannot print then do not press the blue “Print Paper Wallet” button.
8. Now press the grey “Save Your Address ->” button. You’ll then see this screen:
9. Next, select “Keystore File (UTC / JSON)” option from the list on the left.
10. Now press the grey “SELECT WALLET FILE…” button. From your Downloads folder, select the keystore file, the one that looks similar to this:

11. Next, enter your the password you chose for your wallet earlier.
12. Click the blue “Unlock” button on the right. Then you’ll see the following screen with ‘Your Address’ at the top (you might have to scroll down the page a bit):
“Your Address” is what you will use to send and receive funds. Under the text “Your Address” are numbers and letters. These numbers and letters are your wallet address.
13. Go back to coinbase.com and login to your account, then click on ‘Accounts’
14. Select “ETH Wallet”, click send. This is where you will enter “Your address” pictured above.
15. Enter the amount of Ethereum (ETH) you’d like to put in your wallet to buy into ICOs. For example I have 100,000 ETH that I will use to buy ICO tokens. Click “Send Funds”, and your ETH will be sent to your MyEtherWallet address to then use to buy your token(s).
16. Go back to https://www.myetherwallet.com/ and press the “Send Ether & Tokens” link on the upper left side of the menu.
You’ll see this screen:
17. Next, select “Keystore File (UTC / JSON)” option from the list on the left. Now press the grey “SELECT WALLET FILE…” button. From your Downloads folder, select the keystore file, the one that looks similar to this:

Next, enter your the password you chose for your wallet earlier.
18. Click the blue “Unlock” button on the right. In the “To Address” box insert crowdsale address which you will find on the official website of the ICO (http://vectorspace.ai/crowdsale.html)
Set Gas Limit to 90,000 (if it does not work during high-load network, then try increasing the Gas Limit). You’ll see the following screen:
19. Click “Generate Transaction”.
20. For the sake of this example, VECTORSPACE (VEC) tokens will be sent immediately to the wallet from which the ETH arrived. To view VECTORSPACE (VEC) tokens in your wallet:
- Go to “Send Ether & Tokens” menu —
Select “Private Key” checkbox and paste your private key in “Paste/Type Your Private Key” window. Press “Unlock” button
To finish adding VECTORSPACE (VEC) tokens to your wallet -
- Scroll down to the “Token Balances” box in the lower right hand corner of the same screen as above
- Click “Add Custom Token”
- Enter the VECTORSPACE (VEC) Contract Address: 0x774e672c4e24229805b6813b1eae8a402a747bdb (this is not the crowdsale address you sent ETH to when purchasing tokens)
- Enter the Token Symbol: VEC
- Decimals: 2
- Click “Save” button
