Here’s the deal. I noticed today that I’m knocking on the door of having a thousand people that I follow on Medium. Before I hit quadruple digits, I’d like to get “ruthless” with who I follow, but editing our follower lists here is a bit of a nightmare.

I like following a wide variety of people because I don’t want my feed to be too heavy in any one type of content, and following more people increases the serendipity of my feed. That said, I suspect that a lot of the people I followed in the early days could be unfollowed now that my use of Medium has matured and evolved over the years. Problem is that it’d take me a day and a half just to load the whole list of follows to get back to the older ones, since the list only loads a small handful at a time.

But while I’m here, what I’d also really love to see are lists like Twitter does, so that I can make my own curated “collections” of people I follow. I’m still not a fan of algorithms and would much prefer to filter my feed on my own, and not just by tags.

So what I’m saying is that I could definitely do with some power tools for managing my follower list(s)!
