There are some questions that we may never be able to answer and, well, that’s okay. Isn’t it?

The B-School world is complicated but one thing is for sure — you are bound to take a lot to learn from it.

Graffiti by CCC 28, MICA — The School of Ideas.

There will be days when you will question why is it that you are in a particular place and that is when this graffiti is going to help you.

So what is today’s story about? It is about the campus lockdown that students are supposed to exercise before the placement season begins.

A fellow Grey Sensian decides to stop by my room to have a conversation because eating, what she calls, “firangi” food was getting on her nerves.

“Josh, I am so homesick! I wish I could visit home once and have a bite of the food that my mother might have prepared,” she said.

I smile and nod my head — wondering how beautiful the culture which she hails from is.

“We are relatively free today, do you want to cook something with me? I can do a decent job.” I said

“Oh, that does sound like a good idea. I’ll make Chicken Curry for you, I am not sure how good it would be, but yes!”

My friend and I decided to order in the ingredients of the dish we had decided to prepare. This girl that I am speaking of begins to plan and strategize things as soon as she stumbles upon ideas and that is exactly what she was doing right now. She began to think about what is needed, how would she go about the chopping and cooking process, and finally the garnishing and presentation. (Just B-School things!)

She had an ear to ear smile while she was preparing the dish. We discussed all the possible things that came to our minds and the conversational flow was very natural. Not once did she think about how she missed home.

Finally, when the task was done and dusted — it was time to taste. Of course, I had to be her guinea pig and that is exactly what I became.

She served the Chicken Curry to me in a bowl — and I am not going to lie, it tasted like heaven.

“Yum, this is great!” I said

“Is it, really?” She said, “Let me taste.”

I think this was the brightest that she smiled ever since she was with me, “You know this is exactly how my mother prepares it.”

“What, haha! That is awesome.” I said

“Thanks, Joe. Had it not been for you, I would not have been able to stop thinking of home.”

“Good lady, now that I am your official guinea pig — you have to cook such wonderful things for, time and time again.” I smiled at her.

Oh, and in the coming week — the same friend got placed, too!

So you know, as my friend said, sabr ka fal meetha hota hai.

Until next time,

Joe.
