Dual dimensioning is the drafting practice of using multiple units of measure in a dimension in the same direction of a feature. SolidWorks and many other CAD programs support dual dimensioning.

Steps to create Dual dimension:

Open the existing document part, units are controlled in document properties, The status bar to switch between standard unit systems, To choose MMGS from the list. The drawing dimension and annotations update to display in millimetres.

This menu option opens the options dialog to the page for document properties, units. Under the unit system, click custom options. Change the unit for length to be inches.

Dimensions that do not convert to or reduce from that denominator will be shown as

decimals by default. We do not need to make any changes here, Click ok to close the options dialog.

Display Dual Dimensions:

Let’s change the setting for this drawing once more to display dual dimensions. This option is defined as the dimensions settings.

From the status bar, click edit document units.

Access the dimensions setting. For Dual Dimensions, check dimensions display and show units for dual display.

Click ok to close the Options dialog.

Dual dimensions are displayed for all dimensions.
