After a 3-year stint in prison, an unreasonably optimistic middle-aged man returns to his stagnant neighborhood to win back his girlfriend only to find that she and his family have done what they always wanted to do - forget he exists.
As I’m scrolling through the available movies to watch on Netflix I see a familiar face that catches my eye. It’s Andre Royo aka Bubbles from “The Wire”. My first thought was what is Bubbles gonna do in this movie. He’ll always be Bubbles to me. Just like Idris Elba will always be Stringer Bell, Wood Harris will always be Avon Barksdale, etc. Whenever I see someone from The Wire on anything else I always liken back to their character.
Anyway, Let’s get back to the movie at hand. This movie didn’t make me feel like I was actually watching a movie. If that makes any sense. I felt like I was just riding along as the main character, Ashley (Andre Royo) went about his day hustling to make some money and trying to win his girlfriend back. A great story of love and determination. A candid look at life and how things change around you so you have to be able to adapt and change with the times as well. Time waits for no man. I suggest you check it out for yourself. I give it a solid 3.5/5 stars.
