A Complete Guide for Electronics & Communication Engineering Students
Hello Readers,
As we all know that Exam session has been over now & students are now either Waiting for their Results or they are thinking about their Dream College & Favorite Branch. Some have already their branch & College in Counselling. & those who have not filled yet will do it very soon.
Now my this post is basically for those Students who have Opted Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering as their Career. Not only for them but also for those who are in their 2nd year, 3rd year or in Final Year of the above mentioned Branches. I will share some Important Things here related to the ECE branch & I am quite sure that this will surely be helpful for all.
So lets start to Understand first about this Branch. What you will learn In upcoming years.
- Subject Learning: So in Your First year you will learn the basics of all the subjects. First year is the Common year for all Branch students. After it from 2nd year you will study about your Core subjects. Signals & Systems, Control System, Analog & Digital Electronics, Communication System, Electromagnetic field Theory, Microwaves, Digital signal Processing, VLSI, Control system, Networks, Electronics Device & Circuits. These are some of the Major subjects which you will study in your upcoming 4 years. I already have written an answer on this question. - Courses: This will also be an Important aspect of your Curriculum. You will have to learn some of these courses. These courses are Industry Specific and if you become the masters in it than you will surely grab a big job in your final year. To perform some Projects and in order to grab a big Internship Opportunity you have to deal with it. To know more about the Courses please Refer my this answer. - Internships: Internships are very Important for each & Every engineering student because you get a chance to learn something new and to see how the things works in Practical. If you want to achieve a big Internship in any big Companies than you must have to take care of these things:
- Don’t Forget to secure a decent GPA. Here what i meant from Decent GPA is that your GPA should be higher than 8.5 atleast.
- Make your concept very strong. Because your decent resume will only shortlisted you for the Internships but Big companies will Conduct Interviews before Hire. So you have to very sound technically to pass the Interviews.

- You have to add some stars on Your resumes. What i meant here is that you have to do something Extraa. If you are from Tier-1 Colleges than it would be easy for you to grab Internship Opportunities but For tier-3 Colleges students they need to work hard.
- Try to Make small small Projects. They will Improve your Resume and help you in shortlisting for any Internships.
- In your 2nd year try to apply for IITs, NITs Internship if you could’t get Internship in any big Firm. In that colleges you will Get an Chance to do a research Based Internship which will surely add some stars on Your resume.But for shortlisting in It keep the point 1 in Mind.
- In 3rd year anyhow try to get Industrial Internships and if you work their well than surely you may get PPO(Pre-Placement Offer).
- You may search for Internships On Linkedin, Angellist, Career pages of different Companies, By mailing them etc.

- Work Experience: Try to gain work Experience any how . Work for startups. Work for money or work for free. Just do it. Ultimately you will get some work Experience and after it all you will not find yourself in Crowd.

- Projects: As i have already mention this point above. Projects are very Important. You will learn lots of thing when you do some work by yourself. Try to do projects does’t matter whether it’s small or big. Just do it.
- Some Online Resources: Internet is full of many things. You have to decide that what you want to Learn. You can go On following sites and can learn many things.
- Coursera, edx, Udemy, Unacademy, Khan Academy these are some of the best educational sites and some of them also provide their videos on Youtube. Just go on these sites and learn something new.
This is what an Ece Students can do to make themselves a good Engineer after Four years. These are things which are not only specific to any college infact any Student who is either in IIT, NIT or private college anywhere can follow these things. Ultimately our main task should be to Develop some Skills. & For those who want to study further don’t forget to score decent CGPA. Along with these all Academic things don’t forget to follow your Hobbies and Extraa- Curricular activities.
