From words to actions: meet the projects beyond the summit
On October 8th and 9th, we will have the opportunity of hearing the world’s leading experts in exponential technology as well as some of the best speakers in the world. But one thing is to hear how the humanity can embrace the challenges of this ever-changing world, another is to see it in front of you.
Beyond the stages, SingularityU Portugal Summit Cascais will also be made of the projects that already leverage from the power of technology and are able to deliver strong solutions to a global challenge. CRIAM, The Inventors and Pro-Drone are three of them.
The innovators behind CRIAM created a product that can monitor, control and contain diseases worldwide. It might seem a big promise, but it is all delivered in a small and portable medical device.
CRIAM’s mission is to provide fast, affordable and in loco test analysis to empower people with instant information about their well-being and health conditions. With this device, the time between the test and the result is reduced, enabling doctors to diagnose and roadmap diseases such as HIV, hepatitis, Brucella, tick fever, syphilis, mononucleosis, and meningitis.
You will be able to see this technology at CRIAM’s exhibitor booth in SingularityU Portugal Summit Cascais.
Even though they call themselves “the inventors”, the goal of the team of this portuguese startup is not to invent new products and techniques but to inspire others to do it, namely the youth. The Inventors’ team creates educational products and programs that awake the curiosity and the need to search for knowledge, developing in younger children the confidence to turn their imagination into reality.
These educational programs, that were already tried by more than a thousand kids all over the country, are taught in schools, workshops and holiday camps. The products, such as a robot painter, a hand claw and even an electric guitar and an amplifier are going to be displayed in the summit and there is no age limit for testing them.
Portugal is one of the leaders in renewable energy, mainly because of the investment in wind and solar farms, that are filled with equipment that, just like any kind, needs maintenance and inspection. The mission of Pro-Drone is to revolutionize how wind turbines are inspected, by bringing them into the 21st century, they say.
For that to happen, the company uses drones to analyze the blades of the wind turbines, delivering data that is millimetrically precise. At SingularityU Portugal Summit Cascais we will be able to see these drones in action.
