With a slew of new features unveiled at its Build conference in Seattle, Microsoft is ratcheting up its artificial intelligence game. OpenAI’s new GPT-4o, a collection of little language models, and Microsoft’s potent new Cobalt 100 CPU are two of the highlights.

The fierce AI competition taking place in Silicon Valley is reflected in these announcements, as tech behemoths like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, and Google compete to outperform one another in the rapidly evolving field of technology. With fresh revelations to boost the ante on AI, this event is mostly focused on Microsoft vs. Google AI!

With Microsoft GPT-4o, the star of the show

The Microsoft integration of OpenAI’s GPT-4o into its Azure AI Studio created the most excitement throughout the event. This cutting-edge device is capable of processing text, audio, and video inputs. This announcement really follows Google’s AI product demo, which took place at their I/O developers conference. There, they presented a new version of Google Search that uses Imagen 3 and Veo, two forms of generative AI.

Building Your Own AI Assistants

At the “Microsoft Build: AI Day” event in Jakarta, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also spoke about how these new tools would enable people to improve the world in his keynote talk. Users may now develop their own AI copilots — intelligent computers that can comprehend text, audio, and images — with GPT-4o on Azure. Over the next few weeks, Microsoft will be making a preview of these functionalities available to all users in Azure. This is anticipated to be a response to Google’s cybersecurity AI tools that use Gemini to fight cyber attacks.

A Preview of the Phi-3 Models

Microsoft has also released three additional language models, Phi-3-small, Phi-3-medium, and Phi-3-vision, in addition to GPT-4o. These models are simply deployable in an offline environment and are made to function without the internet. The Phi-3-vision model is the one of interest here; it enables users to enter text and images and receive detailed information as text outputs. Consider the possibility of posing queries regarding graphs, charts, or pictures without needing to instantly search the internet for answers. Isn’t that awesome?

Enhancements to Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 continues to improve in intelligence with upcoming new developments. Agendas for meetings will now be managed by the new Team Copilot feature for Copilot for Microsoft 365. It will also take notes, summarize Teams chats, keep track of deadlines, and notify team members when action is required. How much will it benefit the business world, surely?

Activating the Cobalt 100 CPU

Additionally, Microsoft unveiled a sneak peek at Azure virtual machines powered by its brand-new Arm-based Cobalt 100 cloud CPUs. The performance of these virtual machines, which are comparable to software-simulated computers, is 40% higher than that of earlier ARM-based systems. Additionally, Microsoft will make AMD’s MI300X chip available to developers that wish to train and implement AI apps.

The Capabilities of GPT-4o Could Be Used: Interesting Use Cases for Companies

The introduction of GPT-4o on Azure has the potential to revolutionize business processes in a variety of sectors. The three GPT-4o use cases for Azure are listed below:

1. Improved Client Support

What if your customer service and sales teams consistently felt that their interactions with customers were more akin to a kind, enlightening dialogue? Because GPT-4os can incorporate text, audio, and video inputs, customer interactions can become more personalized and dynamic. Whether it’s fixing problems or making product suggestions, GPT-4o makes sure your clients are understood and appreciated.

2. Comprehensive Analytical

GPT-4o on Azure is your clever miner, and data is the new gold. GPT-4o assists businesses in making better decisions through the processing and analysis of various data kinds. Imagine a dashboard that reveals deeper insights and patterns that were previously concealed, all while telling a story and providing you with access to numbers.

3. Innovation in Content

Well, the key to creating compelling and novel material is originality. The generative capabilities of GPT-4o can produce a wide range of formats, including interactive media and eye-catching articles and movies. This way, adaptability can satisfy a far wider range of consumer preferences and maintain audience interest with incredibly innovative and captivating content.

The Entire Image

Advances in AI Since the release of Microsoft GPT-4o, everyone has been talking about Microsoft. These developments are a cornerstone of Microsoft’s AI plan to use AI advancements to grow its cloud computing business. By putting OpenAI at the forefront of the AI discourse, this deliberate investment in the company has paid off. Revenue from Azure and other cloud services increased by 7% in the most recent quarter thanks to AI products, up from 6% in the previous quarter.

The business originally revealed last year that 1% of Azure’s sales increase was attributable to AI. As a result of the company’s rapid growth and the growing significance of AI in the tech sector, the number has now skyrocketed. It’s clear from the ongoing conflict between Google, Amazon, and Microsoft that artificial intelligence (AI) is the way of the future.
