Have you ever wondered how Spanish speakers greet each other?

Most of us have also thought about traveling to Spain or the beautiful countries of Latin America.

But how can we say “hello” in Spanish? Are there many ways or just one?

In this story, we will look at the most common greeting in Spanish.

Let’s have a look at the greetings:

1) ¡Hola! / ¡hasta luego!

· “Hola” is one of the most famous greetings. We can use it both in the morning and in the evening (like “hello”).

Its pronunciation is ola because in Spanish the letter “h” is always silent. Spanish speakers use it in relatively informal situations, meaning it has a friendly/casual connotation. Of course, this does not mean that it cannot be used in formal dialogues, for example,

Hola señoras, cómo están? (Hello ladies, how are you?).

· “Hasta luego” is the most common way to say “goodbye”. Native speakers say this farewell when they are about to leave. It is equivalent to the English phrase see you!
