Day 10

Vision

The woman in the lab coat placed special equipment over my eyes. A video began playing. Clips of the same man in different scenarios. One clip showed him making jokes during a wedding toast. Another showed him carving wood. The last clip was him with a gun in his mouth. He was handsome, charismatic, and talented, but profoundly sad. He seemed familiar, yet unknown.

“Do you know what you’re watching?” The woman asked.

I remained silent, wondering why someone so well liked would be in such despair.

“It’s you,” she said, “seen through the eyes of someone who loves you.”
