I went from being a call center employee to a software engineering job within a month. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I will tell you the main tricks so you don’t have waste time figuring out and researching it. I am going to talk specifically about finding jobs in software or tech/product companies in general. If you are not looking for one you can skip it, P.S I don’t have a degree in computer science, I learned it on my own online, so anyone can too. …

We all have that intrinsic need to be accepted at some level by certain tribe/groups or circle which we value. This is a common human trait which most of us deal with because all of us are social beings, no matter how we much pretend the opposite. The need to be validated by certain groups, individuals, and entire FOMO is true and most of us want to catch up with it in whatever capacity we can. …

Whenever a home collection request is received at a diagnostics labs, it is usually through a call centre or an app or any other medium. Once these jobs are collected it is sorted and addresses are mapped and the route is prepared by the logistic teams manually to allocate these to phlebos and try to do the service. This can work till the time the lab is small or the number of home collection request is low for a centre. But as these volume starts increasing the only way to efficiently assign jobs to phlebo’s is by adding more manpower at the back-end logistics. …

Well lot of people struggle with sending emails to their clients and users. It can be for anything either sending promotional messages, offers, festival mailers etc. So, I have written code in Node.js to send bulk email to users via a mailing list which has the name and email ID of the users in a CSV file.

One of the primary reason why I wrote this was we(Medimojo) wanted to send Diwali mailers to our clients and as a team different people within the team interact with different set of people in client’s organisations. I being a techie interact with lot of people in tech teams of my clients or operations team and people with my touch points. …

One of the primary reasons for writing this is that I struggled with it when I came out of college in 2011. Another reason is that there are lots and lots of young kids struggling with it even now. So, it’s a genuine problem that people struggle with when they are out of college irrespective of what stream you are from. Before we jump into the solution of this, let’s just understand what exactly is the problem and why it exists.

Why Finding jobs is hard?

India is a country with the highest youth population(15–28 years) across the globe. According to 2011, it was 19% of the total population, and it is expected to reach 34.33% by 2020. So, the population is definitely one of the problems, but we are not here to solve the problem of population but finding solutions to landing a job. We have very limited government jobs in terms of vacancy on a yearly basis, you guys can do maths around it and it’s reducing every year. Owing to high population and low vacancy, the percentage of people actually making to it going to be super low, even though I assume everyone to be at the same threshold level of knowledge and competence to clear exams. …

I am not very sure about it. But before I pass any judgement about it, let’s just understand why I got into college. As a middle class upbringing , the natural understanding is; In order to get into a kind of non physical wage work it is important to be a graduate or a Bachelor degree in any stream. One of the primary reasons, most wage work(government or private) has this criteria of being a graduate in so an so stream with a certain minimum percentage and age qualification. This basic eligibility criteria is available at most diversified jobs and it was a norm. …

Where we Started?
When we started Medimojo in December 2015 , we were trying to bring the patient health records online through a B2C App cum web portal. Objective was to make health data accessible on digital medium and on patients fingertips. This would help them share their health history with doctors easily and also make diagnosis & treatment better and faster. We did this for about almost a year and then moved to a different model(which I will explain in the later half of this blog).

Challenges & Learning in above Model:
As a business, we are suppose to make money in the long run. Healthcare cost in India is high and mostly paid from patient’s own pocket. So, hardly anyone would be willing to paying for uploading, maintaining & securing their health records online(even though this happens in many countries outside India). The healthcare industry(in India) works like a closed network(no external entries), so very few doctors and hospitals would be willing to look at the document through some random App suggested by the patient. …

When we started Medimojo, everything was on PHP(core PHP, no framework), because that’s what I knew and was confident enough to build anything and everything.

And anyone who is trying to build something should go for the language s/he knows the best and confident to make it work and fix bugs quickly. Making things work is most important, language is just a medium. I wrote the first version of website and the platform between August 2015 till October 2015 while I was still working with Tyroo. …

Some of you might know that I work for a Startup. Working at Startup is hectic especially in the initial days of it(or at least that’s how it is perceived). Engineers develop this habit of sleeping late from hostel days doing all sorts of random shit. Obviously there are some benefits of it and some demerits but that’s how it is for most people(during hostel life). …

I was in School in class 6 at that time and we had our first quarterly exams. I was in an I.C.S.E school so after class 5 subjects branch into specific fields for example science into 3 viz Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Social Science into History-Civics and Geography.

I have been a mediocre student all throughout my school. It was pretty hard for me to catch with so many new subjects. I somehow managed to get to passing marks in most subjects except Physics. I had 16 marks in Physics and 20 was the passing marks out of 50. …
