Unlimited Vacation is a Gimmick
rosie yakob

When PTO is limited, and used for sick time off, employees know exactly how many days they can take before they have to start short-term disability. They have a buffer that is “in the bank”.

When vacation is unlimited, and sick days are not counted, suddenly part of that equation is undefined. You are not taking a vacation: you are sick, and there are no sick days, and no banked PTO, so you may be encouraged to go quickly on to short-term disability, with loss of pay.
