With winter right around the corner it’s time to reorganize your closets and pull all those cute winter clothes to the front! What would any winter wardrobe be without its staple: the classic tall brown or black riding boot. It’s so easy to pair with various colors and clothing styles; it’s even an easy piece to pair some of your summer favorites with!

First, the great classic pairing is with jeans. It’s so effortless and will always look chic. They are a key staple since they are perfect for all weather conditions and are great for those transitional days between seasons as well. Before it gets too cold, try adding layers with a cute vest. Top off the outfit with a colorful oversized necklace that will add a touch of femininity and softness to your outfit, and draw attention to your face.

Another cute addition is the tall socks sticking up outside of the boot, or folded over the top of the boot. A sneaky trick to achieve this look on the warmer days is to cut the top portion of the sock off and slide that on like a sleeve instead of having to wear an entire chunky sock. Same look, just not as warm!

Perhaps the most fun you can have is by adding some patterns to your legs! Pairing patterned pants or leggings with your tall boots is a super fun, easy way to add some playfulness to your outfit. Being that the boots you’re wearing are tall, they will cover up some of the pant leg which will reduce the amount of pattern seen. It’s wise to pair patterned pants with an oversize top, neutral in color, that will balance out some of the busyness on the bottom. As always, adding a brightly colored necklace will help draw the attention up toward your face.

Skirts and dresses with boots are perfect for those in — between days of fall and spring. The biggest challenge here is to make sure the proportions are correct. For pencil skirts and A -line skirts you want to make sure there are several inches between the hemline and the top of your boots. They should never touch. Make sure you keep the balance of color in mind as well. If your boots are on the darker side, then pair them with a darker colored top to keep the outfit from feeling too bottom heavy. Dresses also require proper proportions, always keep several inches between the hem line and the top of your boot. A good tip here is to add a bulky scarf to help balance out the heaviness of the boots on the bottom. A fun way to add some spunkiness to your outfit is by adding tights with the skirts or dresses. Since there are only a few inches that will be exposed don’t be afraid to try bright colors!

Perhaps the easiest and most versatile is pairing your boots with leggings and a tunic. Tunics are usually shorter than most of the knee length dresses and skirts so choose a darker or black colored legging to help create the long thin leg line with your mou boots.

There are so many cute combinations to achieve a great look with your boots. Keep in mind the proportions and the color blocking and you can’t go wrong! Remember to balance out the look by adding a scarf, necklace, vest, or light jacket and you’ll be dressed for success!
