Look, I know not every cyclist has a 3D printer. But, every cyclist should have a 3D printer.

For the sheer amount of maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and more; a 3D printer could become your new best friend. Here are some beginner ideas to marinate in your head to hopefully persuade you to the side of rapid fabrication.

Bike Accessories:

Custom Bike Phone Mount:

Got one of those funky (and expensive) flip-phones? Or just a normal glass and metal slab? Design and 3D print a custom phone mount that securely attaches to your bike’s handlebars, keeping your phone safe and in view for navigation or tracking your ride.

Action Camera Mount:

Save even more money and create specialized mounts to attach your GoPro to your bike’s frame, handlebars, or helmet, allowing you to capture every moment during your rides. There are a lot of pre-existing designs online for various different cameras and brands!

Light Mounts:

Lights. Save. Lives. Design and print custom brackets or mounts to securely attach front and rear lights to your bike. Ensure optimal visibility and safety during low-light conditions. You don’t even have to be bike specific lights! Slap that old flashlight you found in your dad’s shed onto your handlebars with a custom 3D printed mount and you’re off to the midnight races.

Bike Storage and Organization:

Bikes come with a lot of parts and an even greater number of accessories. Print a place to store them!

Helmet Wall Mount:

Create a wall-mounted hook or holder specifically designed to hold your helmet. This (potentially sexy) solution keeps it off the ground, saves space, and ensures your helmet is easily accessible when you need it. I’m on the hunt to find a new helmet, so this project is on the backburner.

Bike Gear Organizer:

Design and print a compact organizer with dedicated compartments to hold small cycling accessories like spare tubes, tire levers, CO2 cartridges, and multi-tools. This helps keep your essential gear organized and readily available. You can print this custom, make it fit discreetly anywhere, and for a fraction of the cost of a typical tool bag.

Bike Pump Bracket:

3D print a bracket or mount that securely holds your bike pump on the frame or inside your backpack, ensuring it stays in place during rides and is readily accessible when needed. My pump came with a mount, but I lost it shortly after.

These examples really show how awesome 3D printing is for cyclists. You can create your own custom accessories and storage solutions that fit your needs perfectly.

It’s all about enhancing your riding experience and adding those personal touches that make your gear stand out! I hope you get one!
