When we use different electronic devices especially when getting involved with Laptops and mobile phones, we are introduced to different Operating Systems. So even though we are becoming familiar with those Operating Systems, when someone comes and asks us what is an operating system?, we will not be able to answer it. So in this post, you will be able to get some basic ideas about operating Systems.

First When we look into the definition of an Operating system(OS), it is defined as ‘the most important software that runs on your computer which manages the computer’s memory and processes and all of its software and hardware’.

Second Mobile OS, IOS, BatchOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, etc are prevailing as examples of Operating Systems.

Third When we look into the primary functions of OS, they are getting involved in five main functions namely Process Management, Memory Management, File System Management, Device System Management, and Security and Privacy.

If we have a question about why OS is important then we find the answer as it serves as an interface between hardware and software, allowing them to work together efficiently. The main task an OS carries out is allocating resources and services like the allocation of memory, processors, devices, and information. In simple terms, an OS is a piece of software that manages the allocation of computer hardware.
