Everything in moderation — including the aspiration for ‘superhuman willpower through fasting.’ Common sense syncs nicely with many of the notions here — but pushed to the nth degree they take on another hue. There is no panacea and being a total control freak isn’t one either. The middle way of moderation does not promise a universal salve for anything other than the perpetual search for perfection, including the misnomer of total self control. Our culture is misguided, even lost, in many ways — and some course corrections are offered here. But methinks the pendulum swings too far, which brings “addictive” problems of its own. Nonetheless, I’ll take a kernel of truth with me when I go to lunch. Thanks.
