Donald Trump Hired Paid Actors To Attend Presidential Launch Event
Angelo Carusone

The carnival barker Trump does what he does best — bark tickets to fill circus seats and, when necessary, stock the audience with paid shills. Considering who he is and how he got where he is, I find him less controversial than inflammatory, absurd and consistently in barker mode. He actually called Isis a competitor for his hotel development efforts, saying that they’re building a hotel in Syria using the Iraqi oil money Trump counseled the U.S. to take.

Trump has no shame in what he says, how he says it, and who he says it to. And give him this: he’s upped the prospects for brisk popcorn sales. Beyond this tasty accompaniment to his corny antics, he made his entrance on a down escalator. If he really has presidential aspirations, I suspect it’s all downhill from here.
