Look, I love languages. I love learning new things. But the state of the node/npm libraries and systems and the tools such as webpack to build systems is some of the most chaotic and needlessly frustrating crap I have ever encountered in my career. The article you refer to had it exactly right. Libraries change in break ways quite often and dependencies need to be hand rebalanced. If you don’t become an expert in webpack or the equivalent and its plugins then you can spend a LOONG time getting the plumbing working before you even get to produce any UI. And every single developer goes through this.
This is pathetic. It is not at all what is expected of a healthy development environment.
