You’re on the bottom rung. You’re ready to climb, and that’s what matters. Not how high you still have to go, not that you’re fumbling over how to put one foot infront of the next, nor the fact that you get the jeebies when you think of heights. What matters is that you have committed yourself to your path. Your calling. And you‘re ready for it. That’s worth its weight in gold.
The ease with which this is done is a warning sign. It means I’m letting myself get distracted from my true goals. I’m giving up what I want most for what I want right now. Don’t do this, just don’t. Instant gratification, whether it comes in the form of giving up and slumping on the couch, or reaching up for a half-blushed apple when what we’re really after is the big red juicy one up top, will only bring us fleeting happiness.
