An outsider’s view
Please, all of you, stand back and look. Look, for instance, at some other countries. (I can think of three right off the top of my head that are constantly in the news, but there are probably 97 others.)
Look at their Leaders. That’s what they call themselves. But it’s not how they think of themselves.
They think of themselves as Owners. They behave like Owners. To all intents and purposes, they are Owners. Does that description match someone you know?
You, all of you, are in danger of voluntarily submitting to Ownership. I shouldn’t need to tell you that it’s not good for people to be Owned. Many of you are still suffering the after-effects of Ownership, from both of its sides, in centuries past.
In those countries I’m thinking of, where the current Leader is really an Owner, there’s not much chance to change things, because trying gets you killed. Owners do that, entrenching their own position regardless of the cost to anyone else. Those countries are not pleasant places to live, for many people who live in them.
In your country, there’s a chance. You can unite to defeat a prospective Owner. By unite, I don’t mean saying No to everyone, or Yes to a well-meaning no-hoper, or that each of the choices is as bad as the other. I don’t mean imagining that your voice doesn’t matter, because in this game, only silence doesn’t matter. Silence is tacit acceptance. If you don’t speak up you will be Owned.
I don’t believe you want to be Owned. I don’t want you, or anyone, to be Owned. Your country is a glorious place to live, and you should all be able to enjoy it.
Please, all of you, please. There’s only one answer that makes any sense. I can’t make you do anything. All I can do is beg.
I beg you.
