Theme good, execution a bit rubbish — which is normal for a Grauniad cartoon. The ghost or crime-scene chalk outline (which? Neither?) is our Daisy May*, and I needed both written clues for that. The angel or fairy (which? Neither?) is the untouchable Corbyn. The muddy patrician is probably Frank Field. So the good line just doesn’t work. Harrumph!
*as a child I used to get Sunday comics from my grandmother in South Africa**. So I knew that outside New York (skyscrapers) and San Francisco (stagecoach wheels go into reverse to slow the horses), everywhere in the US is like Dogpatch.
**there’d been a war, we were all poor, we needed entertainment. Why the Cape Times printed Lil’ Abner is beyond me.
